Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they stated.
Law enforcement then found many other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of Nazi symbols.
Officials state initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; authorities are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have appealed to the residents for details.
A senior official stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack in 2020," he posted on a platform, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of migrant background in five years prior.
