The Iconic Puzzle Game Couldn't Triumph at This Gaming Ceremony — An Additional Classification Could Fix That

Each time a major honors show nears, one notices a demand to include of new categories to recognize underappreciated efforts and delight the hearts of followers with niche passions.

Another commentator previously argued for a horror game category. It would be amazing. So would strategy board titles, representing a passionate advocate's mission. However, I must insist when I prioritize because like all dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification backing this proposal remains most pressing and important of all. Here's the proposal: It's essential to create an award type for logic-based games.

Categorizing Game Types

Classifying creative works defies precise measurement; it’s very subjective, and it will always start arguments resulting in unclear classifications. This explains why movie academies steer clear of genre categories. Yet it remains an unavoidable compromise for the industry of interactive entertainment, which are so diverse they hardly constitute one unified medium.

To recognize the complete range of achievement in video games to be recognized, and for games of all stripes to have a chance for representation, genre categories are essential.

Present Award Structure

Leading game ceremonies currently feature classifications covering Action, Adventure-action titles, RPG experiences, Combat games, Simulation and strategy titles, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these award types actually cover a lot of ground, making space possible accommodating various experiences.

This doesn't apply to puzzle games. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Examine these examples from this year’s best games, all very different: the architectural riddles in a particular game, intense tile-matching of another game, and the sweetly sociological logic puzzles in another game. What category would fit them between these six categories? Simply put, no category fits.

Recognition Challenges

There are dozens excellent brain-teasers launched regularly without proper recognition during gaming ceremonies, except when they manage to fit award groups including Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, or the intensely contested small studio competitions.

  • A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated completely during that awards season
  • Another creative title was excluded that year
  • Well-received sorting experience received no acknowledgment in 2021
  • Only a few brain-teasers managed to sneak into small studio or handheld classifications

Value of Brain-Teasers

Frequently they represent compact experiences, yet the craft in brain-teasers is of massive significance. Iconic mobile puzzle games stand as most engaged experiences in the world and have been for an extended period.

The famous puzzle experience competes with well-known building titles for the title of highest-selling title ever; it also contends as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones within interactive entertainment, and they are in conversation across multiple categories.

Proposal and Rationale

Brain-teasers wouldn't encounter that issue. You could fill a field of five with fascinating, diverse, deserving games each ceremony simply — actually, with challenge, because you’d have to leave numerous deserving experiences.

Restating the point, these represent titles lacking appropriate categories in important events. Puzzle game makers function at the demanding boundary of video game design, creating some of the purest expressions within interactive entertainment. Similar to cinema stunt performers, they warrant appreciation. Let’s not keep them waiting 35 years.
