A revitalized Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Presently training with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial trophy after the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct events.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive play style and regular reactions on the tennis court had caused some to wonder if his skill to compete at the highest level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play aggressively, reinforced by an better serve.

He came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his first professional victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Appropriately, he clinched the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
